Guest Room Paint Reveal + Real Talk About Juggling Life, Work & DreamsOne Room Challenge | Week 3

This week’s progress in my guest room makeover for the One Room Challenge might look like a simple paint job—but trust me, it’s so much more than that.

I went bold this time: walls, trim, and ceiling all wrapped in a deep blue-green hue that instantly shifted the energy of the space. The goal? Create a calming, immersive experience that sets the foundation for my “African Oasis” theme. It’s moody. It’s soulful. And it already feels like a little world of its own.

But behind the scenes of this transformation is a very real balancing act.

The Beauty of a Plan (and the Challenge of Sticking to It)

When I decided to join the One Room Challenge, I knew it would require more than just creativity. It would take careful planning, intention, and discipline. As a designer, entrepreneur, wife, cat mom, and dreamer who’s always working on something, making time for this project meant reworking my schedule, asking for help, and saying no to a few other things.

Some days, the to-do list feels endless—client projects, sourcing for the new home goods business, managing social content, staying present in my marriage, making sure the plants are still alive, and oh yeah, painting an entire room ceiling-to-baseboard with perfect precision.

There’s no magic formula. But what helps me is:

Planning ahead: Blocking off time to paint, edit, write, and rest.

Being flexible: Because things will shift—and that’s okay.

Staying connected to the “why”: This challenge is part of a bigger vision to expand what I do and share my creativity in a more personal way.

A Room That Reflects a Dream

Painting this room wasn’t just a design decision—it was an act of commitment. To myself, my vision, and my growth. Every brushstroke reminded me: I get to create spaces that tell a story. I get to design beauty and peace, not just for others, but for myself too.

So yes, the room looks beautiful right now (and I can’t wait to start layering in the textures, patterns, and pieces I’ve collected). But what I’m most proud of? Is showing up. Even on the long days. Especially on the long days.

If you’re juggling a million things too—just know you’re not alone. Progress might come in small waves, but it is progress. Keep showing up for your life, your work, and your dreams. You’re doing better than you think.
